About the Journal
The Spanish Data Protection Agency's Privacy, Innovation and Technology Journal is the official publication of the AEPD. It is open access and published electronically, and was created in 2025 to promote study, research and the dissemination of knowledge in the fields of privacy, data protection, digital rights and artificial intelligence. It was created within the framework of the AEPD Statute and the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan as an expression of the institutional commitment to innovation, scientific rigour and the promotion of a solid culture of rights in the digital society.
The Journal provides a reference point for doctrinal analysis, critical reflection and international dissemination of regulatory, technological and ethical advances that shape data governance. Its focus is structured around specialised content and an editorial process that guarantees quality, independence and consistency with the Agency's public mission. The Presidency of the AEPD sets its strategic direction; the Editorial Board ensures scientific excellence; and the Scientific Committee and Editorial Board contribute, based on their proven experience, to the prestige and solidity of the publication.
The Journal is governed by principles of integrity, transparency and institutional responsibility. Objectivity in the evaluation of works, adequate protection of personal data and the disclosure of criteria and contributors are essential pillars of its operation. The transfer of rights by authors and evaluators, as well as their corresponding remuneration, strictly comply with the applicable legal framework and industry standards.
With this foundation, the Spanish Data Protection Agency establishes an instrument dedicated to strengthening knowledge, informed debate and excellence in data protection and technological innovation, at the service of citizens and the general interest.
